Internet Monitoring Features
PODcom's Internet Monitoring service is a feature rich product and includes:Different Server Types:
The Internet Monitoring Service can monitor:- Email Servers
- FTP Servers
- Web Servers
Checking Interval:
With the Internet Monitoring Service, you choose what interval you want us to check your Server. You can choose from:- Checking every 60 minutes
- Checking every 30 minutes
- Checking every 15 minutes
- Checking every 10 minutes, or
- Checking every 5 minutes
Timeout Interval:
With the Internet Monitoring Server you choose what timeout period constitutes a failed check. You can choose from a range between 5 and 60 seconds.Having a low timeout interval may increase the false positive readings, whereas having a timeout interval to high may not identify legitimate server issues. We normally recommend a timeout value of 15 seconds.
Alert Notification:
For those paid subscribers, you can choose to receive email alerts if we find your server is non-responsive for a set number of concurrent checks. When the Internet Monitoring services finds your Server non-responsive, we start checking it every minute to see if it has recovered itself. If after a set number of checks (which you define) we find its still down, we can send a email alert to a number of email recipients. Obviously if your monitoring your own email server, you'd send the email alert to your IT support organisation or to a hosted email account (e.g. hotmail or similar).
Management Reporting:
A management report is created daily showing you the overall availability of your Server. You can choose to receive this report either:- daily
- weekly, or
- the last day of each month
- a performance analysis by day, and
- a performance summary by hour
