SPAM Killer Features

PODcom's SPAM Killer service is a feature rich product which includes the following capabilities:

User Defined checks:

Unlike normal Email Hosts which simply allow you to turn on or off their email checking, PODcom's SPAM Killer service allows you to:
  • Define nominated recipient email addresses
  • Define approved senders
  • Define black listed senders
  • Define noise words (such as inappropriate language or advertising)

Nominated Recipients:

Sick of getting email sent to ATa1q@yourdomain.co.nz or nobody@yourdomain.co.nz!

If you have a wildcard or catch-all type mailbox (e.g. anything@yourdomain.co.nz), then you will often receive emails to unknown or invalid email addresses.  Using the nominated recipient feature allows you to limit the catch-all mailbox to defined email addresses.  For example, you may want to limit email to the following legitimate email addresses:

  • yourmailaddress@yourdomain.co.nz
  • sales@yourdomain.co.nz
  • info@yourdomain.co.nz

Approved Senders:

Ever get emails from Japan, China, or Canada.  Why not simply limit your email to approved senders only!

When setting up approved senders, you can define wildcard or specific email addresses giving you the flexibility to limit  incoming email.  The following examples demonstrate this:
  • *.nz - allow email with New Zealand addresses
  • *.au - allow email with Australian addresses
  • afriend@theirdomain.co.nz

Checking Interval:

When you subscribe to the SPAM Killer Service, you choose what interval you want us to check your Mailbox.  You can choose from:
  • Checking every 60 minutes
  • Checking every 30 minutes
  • Checking every 15 minutes
  • Checking every 10 minutes, or
  • Checking every 5 minutes
You'd normally increase the checking frequency depending upon the volume of email you receive and how often you download your email from your email Server.

Management Reporting:

A management report is created daily showing you the overall level of SPAM activity and protection you are receiving.  You can choose to receive this report either:
  • daily
  • weekly, or
  • the last day of each month
